Welcome to ISJ
The ISJ 2009 Series climaxed with the best and biggest Show we have thus far produced. The Toorak College hosted Spring Show saw 185 combinations compete on courses masterfully designed by Beijing Olympian Laurie Lever. The ISJ Port Phillip Cup was our feature event, showcasing some fabulous show jumping performances by riders from both sides of the bay.
During the 2009 Series, 324 different combinations jumped a cumulative 2055 competition rounds - representing 54 separate schools in the process. This competition experience is reflected in the changing profile of our entries – our largest classes are now the ISJ Level 3 Progressive and ISJ Level 4 Advanced sections, these Levels now being bolstered by riders who commenced in the lower Levels two years ago.
The success of the 2009 Series indicates we are making strong progress in achieving the dual ISJ objectives of (a) promoting Show Jumping as an interschool sport and (b) helping young show jumpers reach greater heights! We look forward to carrying forward the momentum established last year into this year's series.
The ISJ concept is evolving further in the 2010 series with the introduction of Grand Prix Classes. In addition, the ISJ Port Phillip Cup will expand to a four way contest with two new regions entering teams - Gippsland and Team Yarra.
It is worth noting that all of our ISJ shows are now form part of the 2009/2010 Victorian InterschoolEquestrian Series (VIES). The VIES Trophy has been won twice by Ivanhoe Grammar and once each by Toorak College and Geelong Grammar.
The ISJ Summer Show at Ayr Hill on February 26th will feature the official opening of their brand new indoor arena which is to be christened by you guys! So, we look forward to seeing you all shortly at Ayr Hill. In the meantime (in thunder, (bushfire) lightning or in rain) sit up straight, shorten the reins, hit the spots and prepare to reach far greater heights with us in 2010!
